New Year dilemma !

Two days have passed after the sizzling New Year celebrations and here I am writing my first blog after being in dilemma, whether to start on 1st , 2nd or 3rd day of New Year .I was watching a news channel yesterday at a friend’s house when I saw MASTANI Mallika scantily clad, barely hiding anything and the news about numerous innocent children’s skulls being found in outdoor of a bungalow. Two news in sharp contrast, different faces of a single entity - the much debated society. I tried to avoid the rut feeling that comes in my mind, every time I think or watch things which are in stark contradiction……. a desperate dilemma from which I m trying to come out for long.

I have been bored earning a living. Every other day I think about living a meaningful life. A life which is governed by Tagore’s poem, “Where the mind is without fear”- http://www.theotherpages.org/poems/2000/t/tagore01.html (If not fully at least partially.)
Amid all these thoughts, sometimes I find myself lost. The alter ego takes over and desires of becoming a billionaire who will have big heart for other billion people seems more plausible. This feeling of well being lasts for only few minutes and all of a sudden a face appears in eyes, deprived of basic necessities leave alone luxurious living. For billions things aren’t as rosy as most of us feel or dream of.

I know that I am not only one of this kind who is lost in Weltschmerz. History tells us that ordinary people have risen from circumstances and dilemma and have shown an extraordinary courage to go that extra bit to give meanings to other’s life. But most of us seldom experience and express gratitude towards them for their dauntless acts.

From whatever life i have lived till date, I have learned only one thing and that is to learn all and everything about anything or any person before becoming an authority to speak or write on them. Gandhi was not dead till we started to say “ Majboori ka naam Mahatma Gandhi”. There is no big deal if million people unequivocally stand against a group of relentless and inhumane people who are protecting an empire for a wrong cause. But if non violent million people be ready to sacrifice their lives for their nation knowing that they can also get freedom, outnumbering the only few thousands other guys by violence, then this act must be a big astonishment and a matter of great research for historians and people of this world. But as George Barnard Shaw has rightly said that,’ we only learn from history that we don’t learn anything from history’, we take things for granted and forget to ponder even for a second on these issues.

I find it very strange that I spend hours in watching movies or in useless conversations but can’t endure words of wisdom for even an hour.
